We consider our performance to continually improve in the areas of health, safety and environment. We therefore set out specific strategies and targets to enusre that we can account for our improvements in these specific and important areas of our business.
Ensuring the health and safety competence of our contractors and sub-contractors remains a key strategy. The Approved Code of Practice for the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 recommends that health and safety competence is assessed using a set of core criteria.
Continual Improvement Continual improvement is needed in order for us to meet our targets for reducing work related accidents and incidents and therefore, remains a key strategy.
Together with other regulations, the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 impose clear and precise obligations upon the relevant duty holders.
It has been widely reported that the construction industry is aiming to reduce the affects of work-related ill health by 50% by 2009/2010. The affects are significant within the construction industry arising from; manual handling, COSHH, HAVS and most significantly asbestos.
